My research spans ADHD and comorbid conditions, pediatric irritability, and pharmacoepidemiology — with a shared focus on improving real-world outcomes for children, adolescents, and adults with psychiatric disorders. ADHD & Comorbid Conditions

We examine real-world treatment patterns and outcomes in youth with ADHD and co-occurring conditions — including Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder (DMDD), PTSD, substance use disorder, and autism spectrum disorder. Using large-scale national datasets, we characterize how diagnostic complexity influences prescribing decisions, treatment access, and clinical outcomes across diverse clinical settings.

Pediatric Irritability & Emotional Dysregulation

This research program identifies neurophysiological markers of irritability and aggression in children with ADHD, with a focus on understanding the biological underpinnings of emotional dysregulation. We examine the capacity of CNS stimulants to improve reinforcement learning, indexed by EEG, and investigate evidence-based pharmacological and psychosocial interventions for DMDD.

Pharmacoepidemiology & Health Services

Understanding how psychiatric medications are prescribed — and who gets left behind — is essential to closing the gap between clinical evidence and real-world practice. Our group applies large-scale national datasets to characterize real-world prescribing patterns and treatment disparities across psychiatric disorders, with prior work spanning bipolar disorder, pediatric OCD, and PTSD, as well as the impact of pharmacotherapy on clinical outcomes including mortality, hospitalization, and suicidal ideation.
